Fall is my favorite season and it's the time of year to enjoy one of our cherished traditions; a trip to the farm!
Yesterday we took that little trip with some good friends and our daughter and grandkiddos. It was the perfect day for it, weather wise and we had a great time making memories and having fun together, not to mention that the tour was very educational as well.
As usual, I took way too many pictures, but it's an addiction that can't be helped. I was in my element with my sweet little, very basic camera and having a great time.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed capturing the moments of such a fun and special tradition.
First Stop was the hay bale corner for story time and apple tasting
When I was growing up, we had an apple machine at our school. For twenty-five cents we could purchase the most amazing, crisp, sweet, Red Delicious Apples. Now the Red Delicious apples aren't nearly as good as they once were because they tried to change the apple and make it more red. The result is apples that have lost their consistent and crisp, sweet, juicy appeal. At the farm, we had the pleasure of enjoying the original Red Delicious apples. There is a farmer in Eastern Washington that continues to grow the original R.D. apples and our local farm enjoys a bunch of these historically accurate originals each year and they share them with the tourists that visit them. What a treat!
The kids loved story time and they were fascinated with the bird that rode around on the farmer's hat.
The kids learned about the variations of pumpkins. Here they are offered the opportunity to touch a sugar pumpkin.
Next up.....the hay ride out to the pumpkin patch for some pumpkin pickin'
The cost of the tour per child was $6.00. Adults were charged $1.00. Included in the tour package at those prices was a hay ride, story time with apple slices, children's choice of pumpkin, a tour of the Yellow Brick Road, animal education and feeding time and a play time at the end of the tour. Adults do not receive a pumpkin for that price, but they receive ten percent off of a pumpkin if they choose to purchase one. You can't beat those prices! It was an excellent tour.
Our youngest grandson loved our friend, Chloe. She was so good with him too. Precious to watch.

Interesting farmers!
My daughter bought me these flowers and surprised me with them out at the farm. All of the moms were surprised with a bouquet of flowers like these, by the kids....at the end of the day. How sweet was that?
