Independance Day Logger Rodeo Parade

Our little town goes all out in celebration of Independence Day.  The entire week-end is full of celebrations and competitions, the Logger Rodeo, parades, foot races, chain saw competitions, beard competitions (I'm not even kidding), the most decorated house etc.

We live in a community that is rich in agriculture with rolling hills and tall mountains standing majestically against the sky. Farm land is the central part of the landscape and the logging industry is big in our little valley. The Independence Day Parade depicts all of this very well. I am only sharing my favorite parts of the parade and the rest of the day's celebrations will be featured in subsequent posts.

This was the best float I've seen in a parade. It was so detailed and realistic. The participants were all into their character roles complete with a shoot out. I took several shots of this one as it was just so much fun!

A man from the Search And Rescue Team in our area was lost during a rescue mission just before the 4th of July. These planes flew in formation over the parade that day. It was amazing. I couldn't get a clear shot of them and there were actually three....but I did the best I could.

I love this old car and tent trailer. Isn't it beautiful?

  1. […] In Part I of Independence Day, I shared pictures of the local parade we attended.  After the parade we came home and enjoyed a delicious barbecue lunch as a family and a peaceful, relaxing afternoon. This was the first year in several, that we didn’t attend the Logger Rodeo and I did miss it. I love a good rodeo! It was nice to enjoy a refreshing nap, though and to spend the majority of the day as a family. We usually host several people on the 4th, and although we do enjoy doing that, this was a nice change after the fast pace of the last several months. […]
